Leaving school at the age of 16, Jim’s first taste of the motor trade was with Harper Motor Company (Ford) in Aberdeen as a YTS Parts Person taking home ￡27.50 per week. He then went on to complete his City & Guilds Apprenticeship with Local Vauxhall Dealer Lawrence of Kemnay, working his way up through the ranks by joining their very successful sales team in 1993, eventually becoming Sales manager in 1999.
Grasping an opportunity to start his own Car sales business in December 2002, Jim has never looked back.
“Starting my own business was the right thing to do. I wanted to provide customers with a traditional sales service where they did not feel under pressure, something I feel we have achieved.”
Jim has become very well know through the motor trade for his passionate views about the motor industry founding the Twitter Car Dealers Forum (trade only) in 2003, which has also led to him founding and becoming Chairman of the IMDA (the Independent Motor Dealers Association) in 2017.
Although always looking to the future, Jim has always got focus firmly on the customer experience and his team delivering the very highest customer care.
“I love this job and feel very lucky and privileged to meet so many lovely people and gain an insight into their lives, something most people will never do.
Although I am very proud of winning national awards for our achievements, this is purely a by-product of the customer care that we offer to our customers on a daily basis.”
